2023 & 2024
State Champions
2023
A Magical Season
The regular season for the Saline Trapshooting Team started slow. The coaching staff knew the talent was there, but members of the team were unable to shoot their best performances on match days. In Conference 11 of the USA Clay Target League, the Saline Trapshooting Team placed 3rd behind Portland and Richmond.
During the post-season, many team members started having their best performances giving them confidence going into the state championship. What made this team special, is the DEPTH of talent. For many trapshooting teams, coaches must rely on the SAME five athletes to lead them to a state title. This year, Saline was able to rely on THE ENTIRE TEAM looking for ANY five athletes to have their best performance.
The Top 5 in 2023
The top 5 athletes representing the Saline Trapshooting Team were: Morgan Heusel, Gavin Male, Ian Lichtenstein, William Rogers and Nathan Dubnicki. These athletes were not always the best athletes on the team, but today they were! Having a depth of talent and the competition between teammates makes each shooter become better!
The Top 5 in 2024
The top 5 athletes representing the Saline Trapshooting Team were: Jacob White, Trevor Lantis, Gavin Male, Henry Schneider and McKenna Heusel. These athletes had outstanding performances, and Trevor Lantis and McKenna Heusel were also awarded individual awards for their 1st place finishes in the Male and Female categories.
2024 State Champions
This was the year that the Saline Trapshooting Team established themselves as a powerhouse in the USA High School Clay Target League. We are the 1st team in Michigan to repeat as back-to-back state champions.

The After Party
The Saline Trapshooting Team did not expect to win the state championship in 2023. However, on Saturday, June 17th, five Saline Trap teammates had their best performances of the season and beat some tough competition from Richmond, Armada and Dexter. The Saline Trapshooting Team celebrated by having a team dinner in Downtown Mason, compliments of our platnium sponsor, Chad Osborne from Forge a Memory.
