Thomas Payeur (2019) and Braden Osborne (2021),  were co-captains of our team when we first started in 2018.

About Saline Trap

The Saline High School Trapshooting Team started in the spring of 2018. Braden Osborne (right) is the founder of our team. During the winter of 2018, he recruited 7 friends to create the Saline High School Trapshooting Team. Since that time, our team has grown! We now have more than 25 high school members and have won the Michigan High School Clay Target League Conference Championship in 2019, 2020, and 2021 and 2023.

With the guidance of an excellent coaching staff, the Saline Trapshooting Team continues to grow, and introduced the Saline Middle School Trap Team in the spring of 2021. In our first year, we had 25 middle school athletes participate on the team! We now have more than 50 trapshooters competing from Saline Area Schools.

McKenna Heusel (2028) and her sister Morgan Heusel (2025) have excelled in the sport of trapshooting taking 1st and 2nd place in our conference and represent the future of this growing sport.

Team Members

Trapshooting is a co-ed sport that includes males and females. To participate on the Saline Trapshooting team, a student must be 6-12 grade and attend Saline Area  Schools OR attend a school that does not have trapshooting as a competitive sport at the school. Athletes do not need any experience, but have a desire to learn gun safety, marksmanship and have fun!

The Saline Trap Team had 5 underclassmen represent the team score in the state championship. All 5 will return for the 2024 trapshooting season!

The Future Looks Good

As the Saline Trapshooting Team continues to excel, the leaders of the team help the younger athletes develop their trapshooting skills. The Saline Trapshooting Team has 50 athletes on the team ranging from 6th-12th grades. During the fall trapshooting season, the mentors pictured on the left teach new athletes the fundamental skills needed to be successful during the spring season. The 2024 trapshooting season should be exciting!

The 2024 Fall Trap Camp recruit. These athletes participated in a 6 week camp that taught them the fundamental skills needed to compete on the team.

We Need YOU

Trapshooting is the fastest growing and SAFEST sport in the United States of America. Parents love the mission: gun safety, marksmanship and fun. Athletes love shooting sports, outdoor competition, team camaraderie and lifelong friends that are made by participating in this growing sport.

We are always looking for new athletes to join the team. If you are interested, please contact salinetrap@gmail.com and inquire about the upcoming season.

Trapshooting is a SPRING sport and begins in February with safety meetings, registration in trapshooting leagues, seminars teaching the foundation skills for successful trapshooting, and team building activities.

In the fall of 2023, ALL new shooters for the 2024 spring season are REQUIRED to attend the Fall Trapshooting Camp! Click here to see the schedule.
